Some companies offer digital save the date cards as well. What this means is you have the card to use on your computer and you could send them out to any email address that you have. Since almost every household has a computer and an email address, this would be a good way to save money on postage stamps.
Save the date cards is the best way to announce your wedding plans to family and friends. You want to make sure that everyone you invite has plenty of time to plan for the event. It doesn’t matter if your wedding will be local or if they will need to travel, they need to be prepared. Save the date cards help everyone to do just that. You don’t want to send them out too early, but at the same time if you are going to use save the date cards, you need to send them out soon enough for them to do any good. It’s recommended that you send them out about six months before your planned wedding day.
Stop to think for a moment: You have painstakingly put together your wedding event, and done all you could to make this as perfect as you wished; but you take a look around your guests and realized that only half of them were able to make it to your wedding. You obviously missed out your wedding save-the-date cards to ensure your guests kept themselves available on this special day of yours.
Save the date cards are simple cards that give limited information. You can announce your engagement and announce the date of your wedding. It doesn’t have to list the location unless it’s going to be out of town for part or all of your guests. There are a couple of options you have when you use save the date cards. You can have postcards printed and spend less on postage or you can create a card to insert in an envelope.
Trends & Ideas – These cards will be the first impression of your wedding festivities, so take advantage of this opportunity to build excitement amongst your wedding guests. If you already know the colors and/or theme of your wedding, now’s your chance to provide a sneak peak. Or try including a favorite love poem or quote that symbolizes your relationship. Here are some of my favorite ideas and trends: 1. Use vibrant colors that will ”pop” as soon as guests open the envelope. 2. Incorporate graphics that correspond with the season and/or location of your event. If you are planning a fall wedding, try including colorful leaves, or include seashells for a wedding on the water. 3. If the timing is right, turn your save-the-date cards into holiday greetings. Incorporate your engagement photo or another photo taken shortly after the proposal. 4. Who says they have to be printed stationery? Set yours apart by turning them into scrolls, pens, stickers, magnets or a creative calendar-marker. You are only limited by your imagination.
