To save yourself time with licking the envelopes, you might consider stickers. You can purchase round stickers with your last initial or a rose or heart. These can be found at the stationery store or where you are purchasing your invitations. Another option is to purchase glue sticks to seal the envelopes.
Save-the-date stickers are also a good option for your guests to stick them into their little organizers or appointment books. Remember your bright and bold colors to catch their eye!
Trends & Ideas – These cards will be the first impression of your wedding festivities, so take advantage of this opportunity to build excitement amongst your wedding guests. If you already know the colors and/or theme of your wedding, now’s your chance to provide a sneak peak. Or try including a favorite love poem or quote that symbolizes your relationship. Here are some of my favorite ideas and trends: 1. Use vibrant colors that will ”pop” as soon as guests open the envelope. 2. Incorporate graphics that correspond with the season and/or location of your event. If you are planning a fall wedding, try including colorful leaves, or include seashells for a wedding on the water. 3. If the timing is right, turn your save-the-date cards into holiday greetings. Incorporate your engagement photo or another photo taken shortly after the proposal. 4. Who says they have to be printed stationery? Set yours apart by turning them into scrolls, pens, stickers, magnets or a creative calendar-marker. You are only limited by your imagination.
The wording of save the date cards never strays far from a central outline. The names of the couple, date, city, and addendum, ’invitation to follow’ or ’formal invitation to follow’ are the only required elements. The save the date card looks like a succinct verse on a small minimalist-style card.
Planning and Sending – Once you know all of the basic details about your wedding plans, place your order with your stationer. As with invitations, having these cards printed can take up to several weeks, so give your stationer plenty of time. You can mail these cards out up to six months before the wedding date. Save-the-date cards can be designed to match the rest of your wedding stationery and ordered at the same time, or they can have a completely different look.
