Getting your guests’ attention – Some brides-to-be really want these cards to be eye catching so that they truly standout and serve as a visual notice. If this is what you have in mind, look for something unusual, such as scratch-off cards or magnets (that can be posted on your guests refrigerators). Maybe you will want to make your own cards, incorporating one or more of your wedding colors, a graphic design, or a photo.
Stop to think for a moment: You have painstakingly put together your wedding event, and done all you could to make this as perfect as you wished; but you take a look around your guests and realized that only half of them were able to make it to your wedding. You obviously missed out your wedding save-the-date cards to ensure your guests kept themselves available on this special day of yours.
Although wedding save-the-date cards are not part of the etiquette for a wedding, it is wise to make use of them. It allows your guests to be able to set aside time for your wedding in advance. Generally, people would like to know about your wedding as soon as they can, especially if they are keen to attend. Also, if travel arrangements need to be made, then it is best to be informed early.
Save-the-date stickers are also a good option for your guests to stick them into their little organizers or appointment books. Remember your bright and bold colors to catch their eye!
What Not To Include – Save the date cards should not be used to provide detailed information about the event itself. This is not the time or place to discuss the rehearsal dinner, the reception, or the ceremony. It is inappropriate to include registry information as well. Guests who are interested in registry information can contact you themselves, or they can wait until the actual wedding invitations are sent out. Response requests are also not included. These notices are merely a courtesy ’heads up’ to your long distance guests and others who may require, for personal, professional, or medical reasons, some advance notice.
