The wording of save the date cards never strays far from a central outline. The names of the couple, date, city, and addendum, ’invitation to follow’ or ’formal invitation to follow’ are the only required elements. The save the date card looks like a succinct verse on a small minimalist-style card.
Using bright and outstanding colors will make your save-the-date stand out among the rest of the mail. You want to create an everlasting impression in your guests’ minds so that they will never forget to attend your special event.
What you should do – Since this will be your first written contact with most of your guests, it’s important that they make a good first impression. Make sure that you spell each guest’s name correctly. If you are unsure about the spelling of someone’s name, look it up or contact someone reliable.
Wording Samples – The content of your save-the-dates should be short, sweet, and to the point – providing a basic who, what, where and when. There is no standard wording; they may be as formal or as whimsical as you’d like. In any case, make sure to include ”Formal invitation to follow” somewhere on the card.
Your save-the-date can take any size or form. If you decide on mailing cards out, then your cards can be the size of a postcard, or even smaller. Make sure the size does not cramp the wordings together.
